   Welcome

You may be a parent trying to accept your gay, lesbian,bisexual or transgender child.
You may be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender and wondering how, or even if, you should tell your parents about your sexuality.
You may want to help in the struggle to secure equal civil rights for our LGBT children and friends.

Where ever you are in your journey,
PFLAG Syracuse is there to support you in your next step.

  Our Mission
    To promote the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons, their families and friends through;
SUPPORT, to cope with an adverse society;
EDUCATION, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and
ADVOCACY, to end discrimination, and to secure equal civil rights.
PFLAG provides the opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

  Who We Are
    We are Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. We are committed to helping others learn what we have learned, and to help change attitudes and create an environment of understanding so that all gay people can live with dignity and respect.

We invite you share our knowledge, to be free from fear, and to reach out, search and discover more about being human.
Parents, families and friends of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender are encouraged to call us to talk, ask questions, and especially to attend our meetings. Here you can find a confidential, warm and supportive setting where we can share our concerns with others and find comfort and reassurance about our LGBT loved ones. PFLAG offers a wonderful opportunity for families, friends and LGBT people to learn and grow together.

Founded in 1981, PFLAG has become one of the most respected and effective grassroots organizations in the United States. PFLAG with headquarters in Washington, D.C., is now an international organization with chapters in over 400 cities in the United States, Canada and 8 other countries. PFLAG today represents more than 73,000 households - and speaks for countless others - concerned about society's attitudes toward their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender loved ones.

Our Syracuse Chapter began in 1992.
